In 2019, Technical Assurance partnered with Heapy Engineering to perform BECx services on the new NASA Glenn Aerospace Communications Facility in Cleveland, OH. Technical Assurance specifically performed building enclosure commissioning (BECx) services for the project team.

This project consisted of the construction of a new 54,000 square-foot building that consisted of approximately twenty-five research and development laboratories.

Technical Assurance is providing the following BECx services:

• Construction Phase – shop drawing and submittal review, and part-time construction observation during critical installations.
• Occupancy and Operations Phase services, which includes a 10-month post occupancy review of the building enclosure.

  • ASTM C1060 Building Insulation Infrared Scanning
  • AAMA 501.2 Water Hose Testing
  • ASTM E1105 Pressurized Chamber Water Infiltration Testing
  • ASTM E1186 Qualitative Air Infiltration Testing
  • ASTM D4541 Air Barrier Adhesion Strength Testing

The minimum goal of the project is to achieve LEED Silver. Construction started in 2019 with occupancy in 2022. The project was fully completed in 2023.
