Technical Assurance, Inc. is a Cleveland-based nationally recognized building enclosure consulting firm founded in 1993. With 3 regional offices in Indiana, North Carolina and New Mexico, we manage building envelope investigation, design, construction and sustainable management programs across the United States. We have successfully delivered program solutions across 46 different states.
Technical Assurance is passionate about sustainability in the purest sense – making things last longer. We believe that the complexities that face facility asset management can be simplified through programmatic management and progressive technologies that extend the life of building system assets and lower the total cost of ownership.
Our team has extensive critical facility industry experience. Our staff of consultants, field technicians, project managers and office support give us in-house capabilities to produce design drawings and project specs with complete cost estimating and budget preparation. We continue to serve our clients with bidding services and construction administration during the entire course of the task, project or program.

As the Founder of Technical Assurance, Ed exemplifies all aspects of a true visionary. He fearlessly believes in his vision and has built a best in class professional services company that focuses on service and building sustainability solutions. As a building enclosure professional for the past 40 years, Ed has provided commercial roofing and building envelope consulting services regionally and nationally. His passion is protecting the interest of his clients by helping them better manage their buildings. Ed is the Architect of Technical Assurance’s robust ON-PNT® Enterprise Building System Management Platform. He is the founding Co-Chair of the Building Enclosure Council Cleveland Chapter and member of the National Institute of Building Sciences.
William J. Roess, LEED AP O+M
Will is a management and corporate development professional with 35 years in professional consulting. His background includes project and venture financing expertise, project/program leadership, strategic planning and administrative consulting. His primary strength is organizational restructuring for operating and market efficiency associated with major programs and projects. Will has optimized sales, opened new global markets, and assembled and directed dynamic teams.
Jim Solether, MBA

Over Jim’s 25 year career, he’s obtained valuable experience in sales, marketing, management and finance within a variety of industries. Over the past 11 years, he has been in the construction and building envelope consulting industries where he’s been involved with strategy development and implementation, process improvement, operations management and service program development. Jim’s ability to manage large scale projects and multi-level teams continues to drive progress towards achieving organizational – and client – goals.

Gregg Nichols, RRC, RRO
Midwest Region Manager, Senior Consultant
Gregg is a 26 year consulting professional who has plied his trade with both architectural and engineering firms and for specialized building envelope consultants. His is heavily involved in the analysis, management, design, specification, and construction administration and observation of various roofing, waterproofing and wall cladding systems. His past projects include extensive work at K-12, higher education, churches, libraries, automotive, industrial, commercial, office, retail and government facilities, utilizing low-slope and steep slope roofing systems, and remediation of vertical wall cladding surfaces. Gregg is a Registered Roof Consultant and Observer, and is an active member of RCI, Inc. In addition, Gregg continues to serve as a member of the Ohio Valley Chapter of RCI in various leadership capacities.
David Chavez, RA, AIA
Southwest Region Manager, Project Manager
David has 38 years of architectural experience, spending the last 13 years as an Architect, Roof Expert and Project Manager on a variety of projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Over his career, David has been involved in a vast array of project aspects including programming, planning, design, discipline coordination, plan check, roof inspections, ADA compliant review, construction administration and quality observation. Prior to his time at LANL, David was the Staff Architect at Philips Semiconductors, designing clean rooms and support service areas.
Dan La Fountain, RRC, RRO
Federal Markets Program Manager
Dan has over 38 years of experience in the roofing industry, including twelve years as a roofing contractor and twenty-six years as a roof consultant. Between 2005 and 2014, Dan was a designer and project manager for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). He designed and managed roofing projects at eight of the DOE NNSA NSE sites with annual budgets as high as $15 million. Since October of 2014, Dan has been the Program Manager for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration Roof Asset Management Program (RAMP). He manages the roof assets of 10 sites across the country, with annual budgets up to $30 million.
Executive Director of Technology Solutions
Dapo has 23 years of Information Technology experience in both the private and public sectors. He is a SharePoint Architect with a wealth of experience in systems development life cycle and technical project management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics and a master’s degree in Information and Telecommunication Systems Management.
